:grey:Hurricane is still a bit frightened from his big move and hissed at anyone that got near her. Now I can sing nd talk to her and everyone can be on same perch(same cage). Hurricane doesn't hiss anymore only when Dusky puts his fluffed up head in Julia's face so he can get preened but all he recieves is a hiss. I have not taken him out of cage, I won't until weeks past, only occasion was to clip wings. How can I house break Hurricane(tiel female) Will they become cage bound if they stay incage for bout a week? I stick tamed Hurri she can step up onto a stick but have not tried finger. What can I do?

Autumn if your baby has been hand reared it will take a bit of time for them to get used to you. Slow & steady is the way to go. I always let them come to me rather than make them do what they don't feel comfortable doing.

Right so establishing trust is way to go kay. And today I was able to make wazoo step up on my finger, she didn't use her beak as third leg either. hmm one thing I've learned with birds is you need patience

[FONT=&quot]This is my usual posting when assisting to get a bird to settle down and trust someone

Your bird must have time to settle down and adjust.
To gain your trust could take days, weeks, months even years. Each and every bird is so different. He obviously feels a comfort zone is his cage.
Sit near the cage, talking and singing to the bird. Let him become familiar with your voice. Leaving the cage door open, offer him treats through the bars at first. When he willingly accepts them, try placing a treat near the open door. Eventually he will starts taking the treats from the door, make no attempt to touch him. When he does come out, he will probably climb around on the cage. Let him explore in his own time. To get him back in, place a treat inside the cage, making sure it's visible.

Nicely put beautiful advice, sounds like the stuff I'm doin' good to konw around how much time and what to expect! Uhm but what Wazoo eats is tiny seeds I can barely hold a few and make it visble, any advice on somethig else I can give as treat?

On the problem with a treat needing seeds, spray millet is a great option. It looks like just a simple stock of seeds, yet for some reason, birds go crazy for it! I've trained my lily with millet for the same reason, and she'll already fly to me, give me kisses and hang upside down with her wings spread. Just don't give them too much too often or they'll get fat.

Perfect I will have spray millet on my list! Wazoo isnt quite like your spoiled loveable tiel but shes broken in ha, thnx everyone for help

Haha yeah, lily is quite the surprise! I never thought she'd be this sweet. The first day I got her she had never been even held. She bit me so hard she drew blood. I honestly thought 'what have I gotten myself into?' but she got alot better quick.

That is exactly what I thought! :^0
At first, because I disobeyed orders not to purchase her and Wazoo is bigger than Dusky, & she isn't very colorful or noisy. . I even thought of taking her back if I didnt grow to her by that week!
