Yes, we're still very much in the throws of hormonal season here. Thankfully, Baxter gets nesty and amorous, but not aggressive or bitey. She's a shred factory with the paper on the floor of her cage, and when she's out, tries for all she's worth to have her way with me or find a dark hiding spot. Those things are ALWAYS discouraged.

Today was a totally new tactic. She's never shown any interest in hiding in my shirt. I see lots of conures do that, and just figured it was more of a species thing. So, it's the weekend and I was away for two weeks, and figured some extra birdie time was warranted. Okay, extra time with the birds is ALWAYS warranted, but I had more free time today so we took advantage of it.

Just hanging out on the couch, Baxter started going out of her way to find a dark hidey spot. Between me and the arm of the couch, behind me, under the couch... And then, she started climbing in my sweatshirt. Okay, this is a new one. I decided to see what she'd do and let her explore a little. I admit, I was a little worried what she'd do if she felt trapped, but she was being super gentle, so I let her be. Next thing I knew, she climbed into the sleeve. Thank goodness it's stretchy. Not a lot of room for my arm and 650g of bird, but she was pretty determined. And quite proud of herself after the fact. :)

Totally adorable and scary all at the same time. You're lucky Baxter's not a broody purple-crowned lorikeet hen, your arm would be shredded!!!

I think this is my favorite parrot video of all time!
Thank you! I still can't believe she did that. I thought it was a little weird when she started burying her beak in my armpit, but then climbing down the sleeve, I was totally surprised by it. Foolish girlie :)

Agreed! I've had it with my hormonal budgies! They got my baby Joey "knocked up" and now she just sits on her eggs and comes out only to poop on me, and I've had to isolate those rapist males to the adjacent enclosed heated porch to give the rest of the girls some peace. I can't even relax and enjoy them lately without having to break up sex and fights!

Wow beyond bonding! Has to be super trusting.
