Hi everyone! It was a busy summer here so hopefully I can spend some time here now that fall has come.
I set to work yesterday trying to invent some sort of bed safer than those you can buy. So far I think I have it fairly well done so thought I would share.
I didn't want to pull out my sewing machine so did it all with tying very tight knots, making sure not to leave any room for her to fit her head between the bed and the bars. I also created 2 entrance/exit points to ensure she won't get stuck in it. Fortunately Pixie rarely soils her bed but at night I place a small piece of scrap fleece inside just in case.
I am very pleased that she loves it and surfed and whistled for 30 minutes when I put her back in the cage! Thought I would see how she does with the fringes before deciding how short they needed to be. The roof is just a dried grass mat made by Hagen/living world. Next time I think I will put the roof inside the cage. The hammock part is very tight and allows for hopping around quite nicely!
