Hello ;)

Nice to meet you all!

Welcome to the community!

I have both my Senegal's cage and my Quaker's cage weaved all over the place with natural twine/rope, it's a combination of natural Jute and Hemp. They absolutely love it. I first bought a package of "Shredders" from Petco (it's cheap, you get a ton of it in one package, and they love it), which is not actually rope but rather thick, heavy paper that is different colors. They sell it in their bird toy section for like $6 a package, which contains like 50-100 feet of the stuff. My birds loved it, and it actually lasted a lot longer than you'd think that it would. Then a friend told me about doing the same thing with natural twines/ropes, and I've been using that ever since. I highly recommend doing it for any and all birds, either with a natural twine/rope or with the commercially-sold "Shredders" from Petco, as they absolutely love it and it keeps them entertained for hours...If I let all 4 of my larger birds out together, or all 8 of my Budgies, doesn't matter, they all start working on it at the same time!

Just make sure that you're using a type of natural rope that is not chemically treated or dyed, and that is also one that they can digest, that's the biggest thing you need to be certain of...with the paper "Shredders" that you can buy at Petco it's fine because it's just paper that is folded/compressed to make it heavier and is dyed with vegetable dyes...But with natural rope/twine, you have to make sure it's hemp, jute, or another type of material that won't build-up inside of your bird's GI Tract over time, like the "Happy Hut" material does, because it will eventually cause an intestinal/GI obstruction and that's a big no-no...And don't use any twine or rope that contains natural cotton, as apparently birds cannot digest natural cotton (I just recently found this out)...But it's a great idea, they love it!
