Hello All, Frank Indiviglio here.

I've recently retired from a career of over 20 years with the Bronx Zoo, and have participated in field research efforts with a variety of birds and other creatures in several countries. I currently write and manage ThatBirdBlog where I address captive care, conservation and natural history, and answer readers' questions.

The balance of my time is spent writing books, consulting for zoos and museums and (when luck favors me!) in field research.

My biography and photos of some of the creatures I’ve been lucky enough to work with is posted at That Bird Blog Authors | That Bird Blog.

I look forward to corresponding with as many folks as possible in the future.

Take care, Frank

Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated, Frank

No problem!

Got to tell ya, I've always thought about working for a zoo. I think it would be a lot of fun dealing with different species of birds and different animals everyday.

I'll be looking forward to your comments on the forum as you would be a great asset to a lot of bird folks on here!!!

Hi Frank

Welcome to the forums... Looking forward to your posts on here..

Oh I am so glad you joined us. Your expertise will be a huge help to the forum. What are some of your favorite animals? Do you have companion birds?

Welcome!!!! I am jealous. I would LOVE to work with the birds at a zoo.

Looking forward to a lot of good advice and info from you.

Greetings Frank! I'm new here also by about a week. I look forward to corresponding with you here on the forum and browsing your Blog.

Hi All,

Thanks so much for the warm welcome...I'm very fortunate to have had the chance to turn my hobby/passions into a career; zoo work is a relatively small field, but worthwhile; I'll be happy to provide what advice I can for those interested in working with birds or others as a profession.

Best, Frank

Hi Frank and welcome. I am jealous too !!! What a great job to have. It's nice having a job doing what you love. I'm new here also, everyone is very welcoming.

Hi, thanks..there's nothing to compare with doing what you love for a living. There are down sides...zoo salaries, on any level, are terribly low, and not at all realistic for people living here in NYC. However, the trade-off was worthwhile for me; I've always had a second job, but most were interesting....nuisance wildlife trapping, writing books, teaching, etc. Best, Frank
