Hope you all are well quick question.
Do parrots have a body smell?
I sniffed near my ringnecks body and he had a smell not bad or anything cant really describe it smells seedy and nutty.

My parrots have a slight pleasant scent. Not seed like or nutty.

My Ta-dah smelled lie yeast when she had yeast overgrowth problems a few years ago. Tgen no smell really when she cleared tge infection .

Amazons tend to have three fundamental aromas.
- Normal day-in-day-out aroma, commonly a lite musk aroma.
- Happy Amazon aroma, special treat for special Human, semi sweet /sour aroma, enjoyable.
- Wet Bird aroma, well, smells like a wet bird - after a bath.

Yes :) all the species seem to smell a little different :) my Pionus actually seems to be my favorite smell though IRNs are my favorite species :)

Oh my! My weakness... Happy bird smell. Mmmmmmmmmmm! And yes, in my limited experience, very different between species. Different, but amazing. Very subjective in description. Where some folks that don't get it may say sour, musty, earthy, or something like that, others will call it sweet, or something with a more pleasant implication. I can't even think of a word for my amazon's happy smell, but it's intoxicating to me. Now, my Ekkie, I think he kinda smells like fresh cut bell peppers (not green), and really strong. Call it however you like, when my birdies are happy, they let me know. Okay, yeah, I'm a bird sniffer! :)

Noodles smells like a pancake mixed with a freshly opened Kleenex box and a dash of curry spices. It's pleasant and soft --I only notice it if my nose is touching her feathers. I got a hint of a nutty scent that other day, and asked her out loud why she smelled like peanut butter lol! I still don't know, as she doesn't eat peanuts, and it was only for 1 day.

Honestly I could Identify both birds by their smell even after a bath. It is quite pleasant in my opinion. I often smell them when we snuggle.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnd...
Patagonian Conures smell like wrappers from chocolate bars... the best nosefull is accessed deep in the fluffy armpit!

I’ll co-sign Stephen especially. I’ve noticed occasionally Parker can have smells based on different circumstances. Haven’t really noticed it in a couple years but there were times when Parker was particularly hormonal and smelled incredibly sweet like papaya or mango.
