Hi all. I have been watching this board for a few weeks now and decided to register. My name is Dana. I'll be 32 next month. I am Texas born and raised. I am married with 4 kids. 1 (Caleb) from a previous, 2 (Gavin and Paris) are inherited from my husband, and our baby (Jake) just turned 4 today! Our 5 year anniversary is tomorrow, so this is a pretty special weekend : )
I work part time 3 evenings a week at a restaurant. I went to school for zoology. During my last year, I interned at the zoo in the bird dept for 6 months. I also interned at the wildlife refuge and specialized in raptors.
We have tons of fids, also. 1 dog, Morgan, 2 cats, Gia and Sebastan, 1 cockatiel, Calypso and 3 sugar gliders, Carly, Nemo, and Gremlin. I am getting a baby turquoise green cheek conure around my bday. She is around 5 weeks right now. She (or he) will be dna sexed soon. If she is a she then I will name her Midori, but if she is a He, i have not narrowed it down yet, as the kids are helping me with boy names. I got to pick her out last weekend. I was supposed to get a normal green cheek, but none turned out normal, lol! My breeder texted me and let me know she had a few other dif ones if I was interested, since I had already put my deposit down, and I went over there to see all the naked babies. OMG they are all precious, but once my little turquoise caught my eye, it was love at first sight. I didn't even hold another the entire hour I was there. I am very ready for her/him. I have a big new cage all set up with toys, perches, 3 food dishes, swing, and sleep corner, and a play gym, all set up, and all my food, and treats. I constantly have fresh fruits and veggies due to my gliders.
I have had cockatiels, love birds, and parakeets in the past. My biggest love has always been birds but the bird we have now LOVES my husband and tolerates me. Go figure. My gliders are also my fav obsessive past time. Since they are nocturnal, we play at night. Anyway, looking forward to meeting you all.
