Hello everyone and thanks for having me, I'm exited to be a part of this lovely community :)

Hi, I am Carl, I'm 33 years old and live in Nottinghamshire, England and I am a new Parrot owner.

I have a green, male Quaker Parrot called Xander who is 15 weeks old, he is very much a baby and came to me slightly neglected with some wing damage but rather than get a refund I've decided to keep him as I think he will be better of with me rather than his previous owner who just couldn't wait to see the back of him.

I do have some experience with budgies and cockatiels from when I was younger but I'm very new to owning a Parrot and looking to learn as much as I can to give Xander the best life possible.

Thanks for reading guys, I'm looking forward to being part of this community and meeting everyone and seeing your lovely birds and everything, take care of yourselves and any info or tips for a new Parrot owner would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much x

Welcome Carl, Iam also new. Hopefully together we can figure out all our questions and concerns with this great community. I have read past posts and like the support they give everyone.

welcome carl (ANOTHER BRIT!)

Well you'll surely be surprised to know you're already experienced with parrots! them Budgies and tiels although not seen as parrots over here they certainly are, the tiels especially are just tiny Toos

Sounds very much like you save Xander from a horrible fate. 15 weeks and someone already decided to neglect him to the point he got hurt. The hell were they thinking getting a parrot?

Hello and welcome to you and Xander! I have an Alex named Xander, love the name:)
I'm so glad you have taken Xander into your family and would love to see pictures of him:)
So glad you joined us!

LordTriggs thankyou, Apparently the guy I got Xander from was a breeder, he had many different species for sale but I think he was more interested in making money and possibly got overwhelmed with too many birds to care for.

Thank you for the warm welcome guys, will post some pics soon x

welcome, I hope you enjoy the boards!

sounds like stories many people here are all too familiar with. Unfortunate with how things are over here that breeders now have the market locked down meaning they can be as lazy and charge as much as they want. Although not to say there aren't good ones out there

I'm sure he'll be a good little friend! Can't wait for those pictures

Welcome Carl and Xander, thanks for joining! Much respect to you, Carl, for keeping a less than perfect bird. They often make the best companions!
