My Ringneck has a couple perches on top of her cage which is typically where she eats. The issue or maybe not a huge deal is that the bird randomly but frequently seems to become upset with the hardware that mounts the perches in place. She attacks it, pecks it, screams at it. I even went and bought different stainless hardware (counter sunk) screws that recess into the perch but she still goes crazy on those.
My concern is that this is adding stress to her life but honestly maybe she enjoys it Iām not sure. The only other thing Iāve seen her get aggressive with like this is a toy that I bought her and later decided to remove since she seems to get pretty amped up.
The behavior is standing up tall, head starts to look at her feet and her eyes pin and head feathers puff up followed by some short high pitched shrieks. This seems like aggressive behavior.
Love to hear anyones input or what youāve done if having a similar problem. My theory is they are shiny and maybe she can see reflections in them. Not sure what else I can use to mount them in place that would be safe.
NOTE: these are the only two dowels she has as perches everything else in her set up is natural, but I hope to change them if I can find nice natural ones that are of proper size, diameter, and length.
