- Elliot—green cheeked conure
Hello!
I am the proud companion of a green cheeked conure that's a little over a year old. My brother has my bird's brother, and we keep them in separate cages because we heard they bond with each other instead of you if they're together. They're parent raised, so not too people friendly, but super cute! My bird, Elliot, is the more intelligent of the two (but we don't know if he's a genius or if my brother's bird is…not of average intelligence) but he's also more timid, while my brother's bird, Ringo (after the ring we put around his foot to tell them apart in the beginning), is the more playful and fun bird. My bird even learned not to poop on me within the first few months of having them.
Elliot will never (well, hardly ever) play in front of you. If you hear him messing around and go to investigate, he will immediately stop playing when he sees you watching him, and will just stare at you. It's pretty funny.
Another funny, but not super nice thing he does, is when another family member approaches his cage when I'm not there, Elliot will fluff up, make those cute little angry "quacking" noises, and try to bite them from his cage (that's not the funny part). As soon as I walk in or say "Elliot!" he instantly freezes, backs off, and looks guiltily at me, like I wasn't doing anything bad, honest!
He's really cute and lovey, but I wish he wasn't so scared of pretty much everything...
