Ok so Chewy figured out how to open his cage by himself. From the inside.
Any suggestions? I put 2 scrunchies to make it a little harder but I’m sure he can chew those up in no time

Our Amazon got really good at opening the cage door! When I found a way to really lock it; he just stated to disassemble the cage.

Although, I do not recommend it for everyone or all Parrots, our Amazon's cage is open 24 /7 /365. This requires a fully Parrot safe house.

Look for a better locking system. Most Parrots just don't play with the standard door latch, so little effort is put into keeping them truly Smart Parrot Proof.

Lol I’m parront to a smart parrot aww!
We’re going to parrotproof the house once we get the doors and windows that blew out during the hurricane fixed. Then he’s free to roam around as he should:)
I’m so in love with this tiny creature! Best 100$ I ever spent lol

You could use a quick link to keep that smart little guy from opening his door (at least til he figures it out!)
Just make sure it's made from stainless steel.
Chewy is gorgeous, by the way!

Aw thank you :) he actually was the dullest looking one of the bunch but we fell in love right away.
You have some gorgeous birds yourself!
I might end up having a bunch of different parrots myself the way things are going haha, I absolutely love it!
I’m so impressed by this baby, and so happy he’s taken to us so soon!
And super happy to have found this forum, it’s so much help and fun to connect with other parronts :)

Just remember that all babies grow up to be teenagers and adults ;)

Off course! He’s a part of the family until he’s a grumpy old man/lady. And we shall love him/her just the same:)

Chewie is beautiful, I've always like the black masked ones. For the cage you could use a TSA lock, like from luggage. I haven't met the bird yet who can pick locks. If he does......you need to be on Oprah!

What a smart baby! We use stainless steel snap hooks for some of the cages at the rescue that I volunteer at, and we have some birds that need small combo locks like the ones Wrench suggested :)
