Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(
And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
....The Cockatoo Man...He has finally come out of his hormonal rampage!
I have never had a bird that acted in this way. His screaming was so terrible, that I actually had thoughts of re-homing the guy. The moment his house was uncovered til nite-nite time it was constant.
Arleen and/or I got to the point where we'd cover his house for an entire day, where he'd be quiet...SOMETIMES,and then when we felt sad and guilty he'd get uncovered and IMMEDIATELY start screaming. We couldn't even touch him or he'd do his jeckyl/hyde routine and chomp one of us
A few days ago he seemed to settle down..very little screeching and he'd allow us to scratch his little head.
The other night I took him in the shower with me,me wearing a tee shirt and him on my shoulder..he seemed to like it very much. I was able to hold him in my hand while he was on his back and wash his belly. I'd put him on the shower curtain rod where he'd shake his booty then get back on my hand for more shower time..he looks and smells so fresh now,he really needed it and like I mentioned,I think he enjoyed the time
I have mentioned before that he is trying to be buddies with Amy. We have found him sitting on Amy's play pen area on her house side by side.
Well this morning we let both of them out. I had Bonesy on my shoulder and Amy was on Arleen's and we were both at the kitchen table playing cribbage. Jones took a couple drinks from my warm tea <decaffeinated of course> and liked it. Amy just sat on Arleen's shoulder.
Well, Jonesy climbed down my shoulder onto the table, hopped over the crib board, and climbed right up Arleen's arm to Amy! :11: All the while Jonesy's little beak was giving kissy noises, and Amy preened his hat, while Jonesy playfully grabbed and wiggled her beak! I was amazed, I wish I had my camera ready. They stayed that way for 5 or 8 minutes,Jonesy climbed back down Arleen's arm, walked across the table then back up my arm to my shoulder. We offered both of them a loosing lotto scratchy ticket to shred to pieces which they of course dug right into.
Amy always wanted to be friends with Smokey, and Smokes would have no part of it.. Looks like she has a birdie buddy with Jonesy..and all seems to be well, untill the NEXT rage lol.
