My husband just moved the other "bird" into his new man cave. I may never see him again :).

WOW!!! I was so not expecting that when I opened the thread! How long has he had it? Do y'all use it for travel? That is so cool!

We've had the plane about a year. I've been on short trips, but our first long flight for vacation is coming up next week. He's actually had it in the hangar for a few months, but today was the first time I've been there with the bird parked inside, as he usually has preflight done and taxis out before I arrive at the airport. He flies often and is working on his commercial rating and I'm planning a few trips this summer for the family. It's a very fun toy to have!

How long is a long flight in a plane like that? I'm sorry or being so nosy, I am just fascinated at the thought of no luggage checks, no lines...what complete freedom that must be!

Wow nice "other bird" you have hope you all enjoy the planned trips :)

Pretty, pretty "bird". I can see why you'd plan lots of activities involving this flock member. Fun for the entire family! Haha, I hope your husband will be able to venture away from the hangar long enough to visit occasionally.

This flight will be from NJ to Lake Placid, NY, about 275 miles. The flight will be approx. 90 minutes (versus a 4 1/2 hour drive). This is our first family vacation trip using the plane as our vehicle. With our family of 4 and luggage, we can go around 600 miles non-stop and farther with fuel stops.

Oh how very cool! Based on a different thread, I knew this was what you posted!!!

Beautiful Bonanza, one of the most desired birds in its class. An iconic, sturdy, dependable, and safe aircraft.

Does your husband have an instrument rating?

Yes, he has his instrument rating and is working towards his commercial rating (slowly, but surely) and eventually instructor rating. He'd like to give lessons when he retires.

Sounds like a great plan! Having an instrument rating in a Bonanza is crucial to use all of the inherent utility of the aircraft safely. Commercial is necessary for his CFI. (Instructor rating) Giving flight instruction is incredibly rewarding, particularly if not done full-time for a "living." He'll have fun and pass along some great experience! Aviation sure needs it, the number of student pilots in the pipeline aspiring to fly commercially is woefully short of need. (well, the airline industry did it to themselves, but that is another story!)
