Kiwi - age 9 - Yellow Naped Amazon

Paco - age 28 - Yellow Naped/Yellow Crowned
If you saw my post from before, I might be taking in a CAG to foster and possibly adopt. My heart is set on having a CAG in the family!<3 So here are some pictures of her. She is 4 years old and has been plucking a bit (as you can see on her chest and tail) You think she is a cutie? She looks so small. I've usually seen larger greys!

Yes if you look closely you can see where she has plucked on her chest and her tail feathers are half the size they should be! The owners got divorced and she's gone back and forth between them. That alone could explain the plucking. I'm really thinking about her :)

Beautiful! Good luck with her. With love, attention, and time, she very well may stop plucking. Here's hoping.

I would go for it.. CAGs are amzing birds..I can't stress that enough. I adopted a plucker and she has an amazing personality...She really is a great bird.

I have a sweet little bird named Beako with aspergillosis. I'm a little concerned that the african Greys dustiness will upset her lungs? We have a dyson vacuum so I will be on top of cleaning, but I wonder if a dusty bird would be negative for her. Any thoughts?

You may have to invest in a really good air purifier. I would ask your vet about bringing a Grey in, she(he) should know about the dangers of it.

I know I was warned Macaws and Grey's shouldn't really live together, as Macaw's can have bad reactions, and breathing problems due to the Grey's dust. I have an air purifier going and I keep the window open when I can to help circulate air. But i'm always keeping an eye on them.

She is sweet! I would not sit her on a dog though. Plucking is a relatively common thing for greys. After ruling out a physical reason work on giving plenty of toys and baths.
:grey:

She is beautiful! I bet once she has adapted to her new home and feels all of the love she has she won't pluck anymore. She's an angel!
