Help! Xander chewing his feathers

That looks like a great store...the T-Birds would have a field day with that stuff. I think they'd go through them so quick I'd go broke!

I have never heard of feather chewing in Alex. But i think it can be the result of heavy stress. Alex are usually strongly bonded to owners.May be he is not getting that much attention from his previous owner. Give your bird some time & love.Toys can never be the substitute of living love & affection.
Another thing Alex are heavy chewers.Place some fresh wood pieces & barkes.
Cheers.

Yeah, I agree with Umar! Alexes are lost without something to chew and will start on their feathers for lack of anything else. Since we've been renovating (and the Beakies have not been able to come indoors), Madge had begun screaming for attention. Euuwwww! So, quick-as-a-wink, I rejigged the old rummage basket and put it in the cage for the Beaks. Silence reigned! They were so busy chewing up bits of wood and phone book and cardboard and corncob, they had no time for anything else.

Don't forget to give Xander a variety of chewies, Terry. Wood is best: they will worry at that for hours; but they also like things they can sink their beaks into, like broccoli stems and carrots and parsnips and even half a pumpkin. I've been meaning to try a coconut, but haven't encountered one yet. I'll let you know how that goes once I've found out. :D
