2 Indian Ringnecks, Tiki (DH's) and Pippin (mine), 1 lovebird, Gemma (DD's) and 1 in birdy Heaven... RIP, Wilbur.
I picked up my new IRN yesterday and because he has not been handled much, I first clipped his wings as he was panic-flying and I didn't want him getting hurt. I spent quite a lot of time, yesterday and today so far and he has calmed down considerably; in fact is now sitting on me :) He's a sweetie and I think he will do just fine once he is used to being handled. Despite being told that he and his sib were eating on their own, he doesn't appear to know quite what to do yet with food, so I have been hand/ mouth feeding him (mouth feeding was the ONLY way I could get him to eat last night, now he will take a little from my hand). I have been able to get him to eat a little bit of scrambled eggs.
I am heading home with him today, and will get whatever is needed for this not-quite-weaned little guy, and would appreciate any advice on what I should be getting for him. The lady I got him for provided some food, but when I looked it was quite large fruit/ veggie pellets, and that's not going to cut it for him. I do have medium size pellets at home for when he is ready...but in the meantime, what and how is the best for feeding him?

Its pretty common for stress to cause recessive behavior in birds of his age. I would speak to the breeder and ask for her suggestions.

Do make sure he is getting enough water also.

She isn't a true breeder...just someone who had two ringnecks together and didn't realize that they were making babies until oops! I did speak to her again though and it seems she thought the babies were eating on their own as well as Mama still feeding them.
So I have picked up some weaning food and he is eating that now. I think we'll be ok :) I will happily take any and all advice though! The more I know, the better!

So I am giving him the baby food and smooshed up fruits and veggies...he can not figure out what to do with them otherwise...and he seems to be eating well. He has a good appetite!
I will just keep doing this and make the food more and more solid until he figures it out, I guess. I weighed him yesterday and will weigh every couple of days to ensure that he is not losing any weight.
He's doing ok. :)

If I were you I would look up any info on how much to feed an IRN,according to his age and at what temperature. make sure his crop is totally empty prior to the next feeding
don't over fill his crop and don't under feed him either. make sure the water you use to mix the formula is pre-boiled!, for approx. 10 min, this will kill any bacteria.

how old is he?...I'm not sure if you mentioned it or I just missed it ;)

His hatch day was Jan. 26... so he was 8 weeks when I got him... I had thought he was older.
