We currently have two cockatiel and a pioinus. Our first cockatiel has always been super bonded with my boyfriend who currently works from home most days. They have gotten used to him being home and now almost hold him hostage. Especially the first cockatiel he cannot leave the room without freaking out same goes for me but not quite as bad. Once the first gets going per usual bird fashion the others start as well. It's gotten so bad that he had to move his office upstairs away from the first cockatiel due to his constant screaming for him. This does not seem to help and he still continues to scream even when being held or even being next to me.
This issue is we live in a town house and we have neighbors who have cokonsiebd before and now it's getting louder. The pionus and 2'd tile (we got to see if it would help our first be more independent) are for the most part quite. We cannot have him screaming all day as my boyfriend is writing this thesis and need quite time to concentrate and write.
We are at our wits end and are not sure what to do. We cannot afford to keep having the neighbor complain about the noise so letting him scream it out is not an option.
We have tried getting him a friend, moving rooms, now toys, new cage. He is totally healthy per the vet so it's not a medical issue just extreme separation anxiety.
