Taming a bird needs time and tons of patience and also depends on the birds temperament. You should spend as much time as you can with him - speaking to him, whistling, or simply being around him. Once he gets comfortable around you, you can slowly start offering him treats (millet spray, fruit). At first, it's most likely he will chicken out and the treat stays untouched. Don't panic and try again in a while, eventually he'll start examining the treat with his tongue and try to take a bite. Once he's fully comfortable with eating from your hand, you can start handtaming him. Simply hold a treat infront of him and tell him to step up. It's gonna take a while, but once the bird decides he wants the treat, he'll slowly try to step on your finger.Once he does that, reward him with a treat and kind words, he's soon goin to realize you aren't a threat to him and step up without any problems.I got my cockatiel like 4 or 5 months ago and he was in the kitchen the whole time now 4 days ago I moved him to my bedroom. And I want to tame him i sat close to him and I was reading him a book and my problem is that its my first time trying to tame him is it too late?
