I just moved my entire life in less than three days. I am now setting up a bird room and I have been neglecting my birds so badly. I'm lucky if I get half an hour to share with everybody and my parakeets cage has become a shelf. I feel really guilty but I am so insanely busy and they cant come out of the room because of my parents volatile Parson russell terrier..
so, unless everybody is willing to flight suit then they wont be coming out very much. :(
I have a 12x20 foot room for them.. and will be ripping out the carpet to lay down vinyl.
What useful items have helped you set up a bird room?
What lamps, gyms, etc do you use?

Although you gave your room's dimensions, we have no idea of the dimensions of your cages & what kind of floor space they require.....but, you can help your cause, in the vinyl department, as vinyl flooring today does not always have to be glued down...there are loose-lay varieties, that you just cut to size &let it lay without adhesive. All you would need to do is remove any shoe moulding (usually quarter round), save it or replace it, install & trim to fit the vinyl, then re-install or install new shoe moulding, to keep edges from curling.

The decorating gurus/divas can help with organizing.....

I'm still angry with you over your asinine idea that disability deserves death in your other topic, but I'll help you anyway.

Stay away from feather tether harnesses. The only safe non-custom harness I know of is the aviator. They make them for parakeets. In fact, my local bird store was sold out of the parakeet size tonight: she wanted two of them and I was going to ask them to hold them overnight for her.

If the room has a door, close the damn thing – if not, install one. On the inside the door, there should be either mosquito netting its equivalent hung to prevent accidental escapes by buying your time if somebody accidentally opens the door the wrong time.

The room most likely has ceiling. Interesting of thing about ceilings is that you can hang things from them, which literally doubles your space when it comes to birds.

What's the current headcount of the parakeets?

While we're on the subject, grand total of all the various birds and their species?

Give me that, and we will work from there.
