Parrots
American Yellowface parrotlet "paquito"
Green IRN "Georgey"
2 budgies "lemon" and "sky"
ok so i want to go outside with my parrotlet so he could see the outside, it seems hes bonded with me so much, when i forget that i have him on my head i go outside and he doesnt fly off.
so now what to do to make him stay by my side when im outisde so he wont fly away?:yellow2:

PLease do not go outside with out him restrained and clipped. Parrotlets are very light weight and a breeze will wisk him away.

well he is clipped but i dont know if theres small harness for small parrots

Please don't take him outside without being in a cage or carrier, even if he's fully clipped you'd be surprised how well they can still fly, if he were to fly away he would probably never survive, especially with winter just around the corner, play it safe or keep him inside ;)

ok, ok, dont get ur boxers in a twist, i was just wondering if there was a way i could take him outside without a cage

Just because you were given advice that wasn't what you wanted to hear doesn't mean anyones "boxers are in a twist", not everyone is going to think as you do, now, neither greycloud or myself were rude to you in regards to the advice we gave, the same respect should be shown in response to that advice, I would strongly defend anyones right here to agree or disagree, but not the right to be disrespectful........enough said.

I don't know what country you are from but I wouldn't take Cal out without a cage because we get a lot of birds of prey in our part of the UK. They certainly aren't scared of humans if it stands between them and dinner! It seems like a nice idea to have them on your shoulder I agree but not worth the lil mite's life.

If your parrolet is anything like Cal, they'll just be delighted to be breathing the same air as you. So endearing.

i apologize for being rude, just wanted 2 know if there was a way with out the cage

Go to www.theparrotuniversity.com and buy an aviator harness, I'm not sure how big a parrotlet is, but the smallest size will fit a cockateil. There are also Feather Tether harnesses, but they are not as good and I paid more for mine than the Aviators cost so don't bother with one of those.

It will take a long time and patience to train your parrotlet to accept it. If you stick it on him as soon as you get it and take him out, chances are it will take way longer than if you are patient from the beginning. There are a hundred YouTube videos and articles on how to train a parrot to accept a harness, do loads of research while you are waiting for it to arrive.
