Yellow naped amazons
I have two yellow nape Amazons one male and the other female and this afternoon the male started making this noise does anyone know why he makes that noise?

What noise? Can you attach a video?

the dog I can't help you with.
It could be hormone related. it's a little late for the normal breeding season in north America.
Do you know if it is the male or female making the noise.
It is different from my male yellow nape mating noise he makes but of similar ..... tone?

It’s the male

Oh my goodness, he sounds like a chicken or some kind of game bird!

Kirby isn’t the same subspecies but I’ve never heard him make that noise, however - is he only doing this at certain times of day? I know Kirby has a couple of points in the day where he makes all kinds of nonsense noise and it’s totally normal. Have you had them for long?

I also know Kirby has turned up the volume in the past when our dogs have started barking; perhaps he’s responding to that noise?

It’s his first time today,we have our female last week though, and we have our male since he was 9 months old,he is 3 now

At that age it could be puberty rearing it’s ugly head.

I don’t think the noises are anything to worry about.
But his behavior could become erratic.
