Currently I have two budgies. A green named Twigs and a blue named Kosumi
Hi! I’m new here but I’ve had my budgies for around 4 weeks I’d say. If I was able to I would definitely get an amazon or African Grey, but I can’t take care of either currently :(
Anyways I have a green (Twigs) and a blue (Kosumi). While my username is Kosumi I think I actually favor Twigs more, but Kosumi is named after a belted kingfisher so I have the name after the king fisher and not the bird. I’ve had some trouble taming my budgies but I no it was entirely mistakes on my part. I’m just not really sure how to fully gain their trust. Besides my birds I’m not very interesting so that is all I have to talk about

FYI: Welcome to Parrot Forums!

Well, you are luckier than you may believe as Amazon are not for the faint of heart and Africa Greys are smarter than a fair number of humans!

I love love LOVE budgies. If the Rickeybird would let me, I'd have at LEAST a pair. they have it all: they talk, they entertain, they're clever... all parrot in a little-bitty beautiful package.
Don't make me come over there. You and your darlings are VERY iteresting!

Welcome to you, Twigs, and Kosumi!

The link for bonding/trust advice in the second post is worth reading!

Welcome to you and your budgies. They're are very intelligent little birds. I love their continuous ''budgie chatter.'' I'd imagine a pair vs a single bird would be a test for taming more as they are already together, but time tells all. 4 weeks is not long at all. It may take a bit longer. Offer food out of hand/fingers, talk to them. Have a look at the Bonding link that was posted and also check out the budgie section too. It's best to work on your relationship with your budgies even if they are a pair. Those ''bigger'' birds you mention also live a long life and are more of a commitment, but the ''little birds'' you have now are also a commitment.
