My name is DeAnn. My sister gave me her blue fronted amazon parrot about a month and or two ago. Her name is Casey I have had a lot of experience with parrots. I use to help a friend with her parrots and hand raised my Quaker parrot. He was my best friend. I have gotten Casey on a way better diet then she had and also gets all the love and attention that she wants. She was plucking out a lot of her feathers. I don't know how to help her stop. Casey does look better then when I first got her. She has been abused before my sister got her. Before that she was won in a poker game.

It sounds like your Casey has lived in sad circumstances Do you know her age? How long has she been plucking and how severe is her plucking now? There are so many reasons for plucking, each case is different. A good place to start is a thorough exam by an avian vet to rule out or pinpoint medical issues that could be the underlying cause.
