Chronic: male Senegal about 3 and a half months old
Hi, im new to the forum so i just thought i should start out by saying hello.
Me and my boyfriend have just bought a new senegal parrot, he is only about 3 and a half 4 months old right now. We have had him home for 3 weeks this thursday, and for the most part he is wonderful, he sleeps through the night well and is pretty happy with his cage. I just have one question... were usually with the parrot for a good 5 hours once my boyfriend gets home from work at 6pm, and i'm home everyday at 11:30am, but when we leave the room he starts so scream... my boyfriend said it's like a crying baby and we can't run back every time it happens.
Is he right? Or is it just because he is so young?

Hi littlerachel. Welcome to the forum. Sorry I can't help you with your problem. I'm waiting on my baby to be big enough to bring home. I wish you luck. :)

Hello and welcome to the forum :) Congrats on your new Baby Senegal.

He is screaming as he wants your attention! I have an Amazon that does exactly the same when I leave the room! The best advice I can give you on this, is just totally ignore him when he screams! If you react by going to him, he will carry on doing it! He will eventually get to know that screaming gets him no reaction from you!!... When he dosent scream, then give him a treat of some kind, to show him you are pleased with him!! It will take a while, but keep persevering.. I have had this now with Codie for 4 months and I am very pleased to say, she is now only doing it every now and then.

Parrots can be quite cunning when they want to be :) I hope this helps you :)

Thank you for the advise wenz, i just ignored his screaming last night and he quieted down really quick. But i have no treats that he seams to like, i have bought about 3 or 4 different ones since bringing him home and he turns his nose up to all of them, except for papaya which is in his food.
