Hello to all from a new bird lover!

Hello! I am a new Sun Conure mom and hope to learn all I can about this beautiful creature. I believe molting is upon us so I am learning quickly. I was shocked at how this bird grabbed my attention at the pet store and insisted that I fall in love with it on the spot! I went home and spoke to my husband who has had multiple birds when he was younger and he agreed to the commitment. So the next day, just a few days ago, I went and got this bird that insisted it was to be mine. What a lover! I slept the first night in the spare bedroom with him cuddled up against my neck. He loved it!! We are going to have a lot of "firsts" in the next few months so I look forward to visiting the site daily to help me become a better mom!! We are in Akron, Ohio.

Welcome to the forums and Congratulations! It's a special treat to be chosen by a parrot. Does your newest addition have a name? We'd love to see pics of your little sweetie.

I mean this in the gentlest possible way. Please be very careful about falling asleep with your bird, especially those with a snuggly nature, as sweet as it is, a lot of tragic accidents occur.

Yeah, I was 'chosen' by my little Maxie (RIP) and there is nothing quite like that.
Salty and I have developed a great bond and it gets stronger each week, but when they decide that you are their person from the start, its beautiful. Welcome aboard, there is several lifetimes worth of experience on this board, so don't be shy of asking any questions.
