- Parrots
- A flock of fluffy chickens & one sweet little ringneck named Apollo.
My name is Nicole.
My father bred & raised exotic parrots my whole childhood. Everything from Lovebirds to Crows to Maccaws. I grew up around parrots and loved everything about them, even the changing of the newspaper twice a week!
I remember making bird muffins with fresh fruit and vegetables inside for the parrots and making them special shaped Christmas treats.
All of my memories of living in a house full of parrots are awesome and I am thrilled that my husband [who has never touched a bird, let alone owned one] has finally agreed that we could get one.
We've decided on an Indian Ringneck, since he's never been around them, I didn't want to go buy a cockatoo and scare him!
We've found a reputable breeder in our area and she has babies due next month. Our new baby should be ready to come home with us in May!
Currently, our home is owned by 2 spoiled pups [a 2 year old Italian Greyhound named Sticks, and a 6 year old long haired mini Dachshund named Abby] I breed and raise chickens in my spare time, our yard is full of fat, happy backyard chickens! We also have Turkeys, Guineas and ducklings on their way for Spring!
I've gotten too far into self-sustaining land and backyard farming since we moved to NC, but so far it's all worked out great! I picked up a canning hobby this year and spent the summer canning all of my hard farmed vegetables and fruits!
I'm looking forward to chatting with other bird lovers and learning more about our chosen breed!
