Hello one and all! I'm a newbie bird Aunt (sort of). My mother-in-law owns a few birds, and I've been trying to help her sun conure hatch a baby, because the make keeps breaking them. So I'm here to learn everything I can!

Welcome to the forum. I hope someone can offer help for you.

I would be cautious about sealing an egg with nail polish, just because studies have shown that that gets into human's blood-streams etc and that it is toxic-- as are the fumes. Eggs are porous, like fingernails and if it can get through a nail, I'd not chance it on an egg.

Plus, if an adult bird is around, nail polish fumes and fragments of chipped nail polish (if ingested) can be harmful.

Welcome, and bless you for being open to input before you take on the hugely complicated activity of breeding parrots! Welcome!
