Hello from Texas!

Hi there! My name is Dawn. I'm a mom of 3 boys and 1 girl. We live in Central Texas out in the country. We have a CAG named BuddyBok; 4 dogs, Duchess the Great Dane, Leyna the Basset Hound, Shylo the Lab, and Gizmo the Chihuahua; 3 horses, Chief, Boomer, and Sweet Pea; and 15 chickens.

We are new to having parrots. We've only had Buddy for about 2 months. I'm still learning a great deal. He just the greatest. He's adjusted very well. My husband is his favorite, and he just doesn't know what to do with that! LOL But Buddy loves me too, just not as much...but he has to spend all day with me and I'm the one that takes care of his food and cage and playtime. LOL

I am lucky to have an understanding hubby and at the end of June we will be bringing home a Black Headed Caique! I'm thrilled. I get to meet him/her on Thursday and just can't wait! The breeder has two so I'm hoping one of them will like me! I'm very nervous as I've read so much about the Caiques and their mood changes have me worried. I've yet to be bitten hard by Buddy...and really hope it doesn't happen. I've been very lucky so far, I know! I try very hard to watch for the signs. I've fallen in love with the BHC. I just can't wait to be able to bring the baby home. I'm already thinking of names. I'm getting his/her cage set up. I plan on getting a bigger cage a little later...must save up more money first.

Anywho, I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone and learning more and sharing our experiences.

solobaby -- I've just gotten used to Buddy mouthing my fingers. I will admit...I'm a sissy with pain. I'm not looking forward to being bit, but I do know that it will happen. :52:

Spiritbird -- Yes I have a very full house, but I wouldn't change it for the world. If my hubby would let me, I'd have goats, and pigs, and cows, etc. He's my stop button. I love animals. If I could buy a zoo, I would. :21: I didn't get the land of storms reference?

Buddy is a plucker, or was a plucker. He's finally got feathers growing in on his belly. Hopefully having a stable home now and better diet is helping.
