Hello everyone! We would like to introduce our 'forever bird' - Adelita!
Adelita is a 9 year old male - Double Yellowhead Amazon. Adelita’s previous owner surrendered him to the aviary for consignment. We were originally looking for a baby bird but immediately realized that Adelita had a special bond with my wife. We purchased him on January 1, 2014.
We learned that Adelita was a male after DNA testing. His prior owner left Adelita’s aviary vet information at the store so we were able to continue with the same amazing vet. Adelita was not a hand bird and when we got him his vocabulary consisted of “What’s Up”. He now says, “Hi”, "Hello" and “I love you Little Chodi”. He also barks like a dog, does car alarms and giggles like Sponge Bob when he has a bath/shower.
“Little Chodi” travels with us between South and Central Florida and has a large cage in each home. He is learning to play with toys and also now allows us to pet him. He will “perch” easily on our arms and will sit in our laps.
He has been an amazing addition to our family and we love him dearly.
