Hello everyone! My name is Rik and I have a jenday named Benny. I have had him for about 3 weeks now. I had a jenday (Kila) before Benny, so I do know a little about conures. Kila, however, was already well socialized, knew a few tricks, and loved people when we got her so all the hard work was already done. Benny...not so much. Benny is about 14 months old. We got him from Pet Smart. They did NOT do a good job taking care of him at all. He didn't even know how to be a conure. They had one perch for him and kept him in an aquarium type home. He spent most of his time on the floor. When we first brought him home he would fall off his perches and didn't get around very well. He was very scared of us and would freak out if we opened his cage door. Now he's getting around much better, doesn't fall down much, plays with his toys, and will take food from our hands. I'm now trying to get him to beak my finger before he gets his treat. He doesn't bite much anymore, but doesn't always want to cooperate. Anyway, the next step is to get him to step up. I'm not making much progress so any tips would be appreciated. Sorry for the long post and if you made it this far...THANKS!
