Hello everyone! My name is Anne, and I live in Durham, N.C.
I brought home my first-ever parrot, Edwin, a maximilian pionus, in August. I adopted him at the age of 5 from someone on Craigslist. He is pretty well socialized, and overall, it has been a relatively easy shift into the bird-owner life (with the help of lots of reading!). Certainly a couple of painful bites on the way, but not too many.
Because I work full-time, I leave music on during the day for Edwin so he doesn't get too bored. This weekend, however, I got a young budgie from the pet store who I will also keep around, in a separate cage on the other side of the room. I hope they'll be able to enjoy each other's company. So far, Edwin doesn't mind this new flockmate, and the budgie seems like he'll have a pretty easygoing disposition.
The short story is... I'm a happy bird lady with a pionus and a budgie!
