1 African Grey, 2 Cockatiels and 1 Pionus
Hi Everyone! I'm Chris from New Jersey. We've had lots of birds over the years - Sengals, Conures, Cockatoos but currently we have a Pionus, 2 Cockatiels and we just inherited an African Grey named Leroy. Leroy is about 3 years old and was my husbands oldest brothers bird. He just made the long car trip from Florida to NJ (with a stop overnight at my sons house in Georgia) with my husband and arrived here last night. My brother in law passed away September 2 and one of the things he was worried about was who would take Leroy. I'm glad we were able to give him a home and I hope it made my brother in law more at peace. We have a bit to learn as this is our first experience an African Grey living with us. He does talk and seems to have made himself/herself right at home (I suspect he is a she) eating, preening and performing acrobatics already. I'm looking forward to reading the forums here and learning more about how to care for this wonderful creature. A long time ago, if you had asked me what my "dream" bird was - it would have been an African Grey. Not under these circumstances, of course, but we will do our best to make Leroy's life here something that my brother in law would be happy with. :grey:

Hi there Chris, and a warm welcome! :)

My deepest condolences to the loss of your brother in law!

If you feel up to it, please share some photos of your flock. We all love pictures.

Welcome to the ParrotForum!

Loses are never easy. However, when the soul of the departed can be lightened and the heart of those remaining filled with a little joy - that has always spoken to me that the tiller of life is in the hand of a caring shepherd.

Please take the time to read the first 'thread(s)' in the Africa Gray Forum. You will find helpful information in getting to know your new family member. That and the many other forums will continue to support you. Join in!

Warm wishes and prayers for you and your husband.
