Green cheek called Tiki
Hello guys,

A few months ago you helped me with some beginner questions relating to me wanting to get a green cheek.

Many months of research and hope have past.. and finally the day arrived and I got my own!

I'd like to introduce you all to Tiki, my beautiful parrot. His dad was a maroon belly and his mum was a pineapple mutation. I think it's created a lovely colour and character!

He came home 2 days ago and today he came out for the first time. He's still a little nervy around my hands but he's a lot more willing to step up and be my friend if I have a nutriberry for him! He is also very interested in my pet degus, but they already had a little fight as they were a little inquisitive and Tiki soon put them in their place!

I've followed these forums for many months, if not years, but now I have my own parrot I look forward to posting more and getting to know you all.

Thanks for reading :D

Precious!
His bronze shades remind me a little of some of the Rickeybird's colors.
Getting a bird... you did it right! Researching, reaching out!
I'm glad you're here.

Welcome back to you and Tiki. Beautiful bird, you'll enjoy him greatly!

Had to Google "degus." Please use caution to avoid possible injury or transmission of disease between the species.

Yes welcome back to you and Tiki.

Likewise had to Google Degus, although it looks like Tiki has claimed the top spot the possibility of injury is still high. Vets bills are not something to go looking for!

If you can locate them in different areas of the house that would be better for each of them really, they are totally different species. Separate out times please!

You would be pretty upset to lose Tiki after this long wait wouldn't you?

Thanks for being so welcoming everyone!

I didn't expect him to be so bold with the degus straight away. I think because they are in a large cage similar to his it feels safe. I have now started covering them with a couple of towels if Tiki is out and I added a couple of perches nearby so he lands there instead of the cage. I appreciate all your concerns though, thanks for looking out for him!
