Parrots
White-winged Parakeet, White-capped Pionus
Good day to all the other bird lovers out there.

I currently have a White-capped Pionus and White-winged Parakeet. I volunteer at a semi-local parrot rescue. I am fascinated by all birds, but I feel a special connection to the Pionus. Therefore, it is my intent to help provide education on them, to rescue those in need, and to do some limited breeding.

My intent in joining this group is to find bird loving friends and continue to learn about these wonderful animals in our lives.

Hello and welcome from Iowa!! It's great to find a connection with a specific species, isn't it? :)

Hello, and welcome!
It will be fun to follow your continuing adventures!

WHite wing parakeet, aka one of the BeeBee parrots - I love them. Had a yellow wing, named Max, and he was truely awesome.

Sammy is my WCP and we call our little one Lady Hawk. I think I have the picture attachments on here. The quality of my pictures is lacking. I need to break out the real camera one of these days.

Yep, thats a Broto for ya. Looks just like my little Maxie did. If she's anything like he was , she rules the house with an iron beak, or you get the temper tantrum!

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum but I've been lurking a little while. I have a question about a African Gray. I have an opportunity to have one given to me. Current owners have not put the time necessary to pay him much attention. As a result him is plucking his own feathers out. Question is, would any of you take on this rescue? It's a long commitment if I'm stuck with a grumpy bird.

Hi britebore and welcome to the forum! You should post your question as a new thread - many more people will see it that way instead of it getting lost in this thread. Pick a forum to post in, right at the top of the list of threads, on the left side, there is a New Thread button. Click that and post away!

Welcome to the forums, thanks for joining! Volunteering at a rescue is such a noble gesture, much respect!!

Welcome. I must say, I'm a bit partial to Pionus myself :) We've been "owened" by them for almost 25 years. I will say it is becoming MUCH harder to come by breeders of them these days and most that are listed on line have stopped breeding them and gotten rid of their stock.
