Hello fellow parrot lovers! I have visited on occasion but decided to join to learn more. I'm a fairly new parrot parent (though I had a budgie when I was a kid - mom took care of it more than I did...oops). My little budgie friend, Keats' Bright Star, joined my menagerie on March 25th. I LOVE him
He's now about 4 months old, and I think he likes me, though we're still working on training and stuff. So far, he's an only bird, but shares home with 2 cats, me, and a betta fish. He may need a feathered friend one day, but I don't want to rush it. I'm enjoying every nuance of his baby and adolescent stages so far. He's mostly white, with pale blue feathers on his upper chest and beneath the wings on his back. A stunner, everyone says.
He's in a fairly large cage for a single budgie - one big enough for two cockatiels. He has multiple perches and toys, multiple 'watering holes' and food dishes. We chat and stretch together often, and we read poetry together
His first birdie well-visit (about a month ago) with an avian veterinarian went well, and he is just beautiful - glossy and trim. The perfect weight and possessor of a strong heart, according to his doctor.
I know I still have much to learn, and that's why I'm here...to learn and share in the joy
