Hey everyone my name is Lola, I am a five month old sun conure. I am beautiful, well at least that what my daddy is always telling me:)

I have a few questions though, I was bought to my new home on December 2nd, and my dad has cared for me so much, he is always reading these forums and searching to find all the most important information out there, to make sure I am happy and healthy!

First is diet:
I know the most important question out there, So I am feeding Lola the Zupreem Naturals, I have to say I am fan and so is she, but sometime she will eat her whole bowl in 6 hours and then other days she will not, is this normal?? Also how much food should I be give her? What is a good serving size for her? She currently weighs 100g. I am currently measuring out 2 tablespoons of food and I usually have to add more every two/three days, is this a normal amount of food? Should I be making sure she is eatting more of her pellets?

Along with her pellets I feed her 2-3 Nutriberries, more as a snack through out the day she loves these! I always have fresh millet provided in her cage as she also love it! Is this something I should keep doing or should I change it up?

Along with all that I do also feed her fruits and veggies, again I am wondering how much is generally a proper serving for her? I haven't found much about it on the web and it is something I would like monitor of how much food she is consuming, I worry about how much food I eat during my day, I feel it is only natural for me to care about Fid as such. also is it okay if i feed her fruits and veggies at the same time once a day or should I break up more as a breakfast and dinner type of thing?

Also what kind of oils do you guys recommend? I keep seeing the use of coconut oil, what kind of use should I use it for?

Any information provided would be appreciated, I care for my baby girl and what to make sure she is getting all the right nutrients~ :orange:

THANKS EVERYONE!!

LOLA and Her Human!!

I would probably make the majority fo the diet fruit and veg, maybe have some pellets on the side. How much millet does she have available? They make a good treat for training too.

As for portion size; keep an eye on how much she eats and you should be able to figure out how much she eats based on that, they're all different so they'll eat different amounts too :)

That may depend on how much other foods she's getting and/or eating.

I usually give my birds 10-20% of their weight in dry food a day, and adjust accordingly. If they eat it all, I give a little more. If there's a little left, it's just right. If there's a lot left, I decrease. I measure food out by grams.... I do have two conures that weigh around the same weight, but I feed one more than the other. This is because one eats more food! (not sure if age has anything to do with it... he is the youngest...)

I believe that food should be refreshed daily... so if she's not eating most of her dry food in a day, you may be feeding too much.

Should I be making sure she is eating more of her pellets?
If she's eating a healthy, varied diet, then pellets could be around 25% of her diet.

Along with her pellets I feed her 2-3 Nutriberries, more as a snack through out the day she loves these! I always have fresh millet provided in her cage as she also love it! Is this something I should keep doing or should I change it up?
Nutriberries are considered a "complete" diet, although many people use them as treats. It's entirely up to you.

Along with all that I do also feed her fruits and veggies, again I am wondering how much is generally a proper serving for her?
Anywhere from 10% of her diet on up to maybe 80% can be fresh and cooked foods! As long as you feed a healthy variety!

also is it okay if i feed her fruits and veggies at the same time once a day or should I break up more as a breakfast and dinner type of thing?
As long as she eats her fresh foods, that's up to you!

Also what kind of oils do you guys recommend? I keep seeing the use of coconut oil, what kind of use should I use it for?
Coconut oil or red palm oil. Usually not recommended to give more often than a few times a week, if that. It's more of a supplement than anything. You don't *have* to feed it! But if you do, you can mix it in with pellets or fresh foods! Just a little!
