Jojo lives with 3 humans, 4 dogs, and 1 Lory. He's adjusted very well to his new family..and with many years to come. He's an awesome parrot!

And, a Hello to you and a Welcome to Parrot Forums and the Home of the Amazon Forum!

JoJo is one beautiful Yellow Nape!!! As the years pass you will be watching his Nape become ever more yellow with each year's major molt.

At 1.5 years old, your Amazon is and will be growing-up over the eight years as he transfer from a young Parrot to an Adult. The transition can be challenging and your efforts at developing a Strong Bond based relationship with everyone in the household will be very important to a successful transition. With Amazons, it is very important to socialize them and that is done by everyone being involved with your Amazon.

At the top of the Amazon Forum is two Threads that are highlighted in light blue! They are referred to as Sticky Threads and near every Forum here has them. They are very important and contain information that is highly useful.

At 1.5 years old, JoJo is just beginning to develop his Amazon Body Language! Life with Amazons is much easier if you and every member of your household takes the time to learn the basic Body Language provided as part of the first Sticky Thread, which is surprisingly titled: Understanding Amazon Body Language, or something close to that. The best means of learning Amazon Body Language is to have your Amazon with you and Reading it Out Loud to your Amazon!!! You will find that first; Amazons love to be read too. And second, it helps to set these basic Body Language actions solidly into your mind!

Even as a near life long Amazon Snob, I go back and read this Thread to my DYH Amazon at least once a quarter! If a Snob thinks its that important, everyone in your household will find it of great help! I commonly recommend that you and yours will want to read this Thread several times a week for several weeks. Or, we can wait until he has been clearly telling you something important, gives-up and just bites you really, really hard! Personally, I would rather know in advance! :D

The second of the two Sticky Threads is: I Love Amazons - ... This truly huge Thread is the foundation for Loving and Living with Amazons! With well-over 30 segments, you will find a treasure of information that will help living with your Amazon and can be used with other Parrots as well. At this point, I would recommend reading the segment titled: Getting to the Food of the Problem!

A real basic in Working with Amazons is:

It is NEVER the Fault of the Amazon!
It is ALWAYS the Fault of the Human!
When one changes one's vantage point, it becomes easier and faster to understand what you are doing wrong and correct it! Life with an Amazon and most other Parrots becomes easier and far more enjoyable!

Welcome to the Wonderful World of Amazons!!! Where Amazons have more Fun!!! Playing with the minds of their Humans!!! :D

When you come to understand that Your Amazon Owns You and everything in your Home! You will truly understand the True Meaning of Being Owned By an Amazon!!!

Enjoy!

Hello & welcome to the Parrot Forums!

They are beautiful, best of luck to you all.

Welcome to you and your menagerie! Jojo is particularly stunning against the white background.
