Congo African Grey
hello I am Issam
I am facing a problem
I have bought a new African Grey parrot but the parrot is screaming a lot when somebody comes near his cage...I need your help to have his trust

I had the same experience with parrots before 6 years and I didn't know what to do, but that bird died after two month .. I am afraid the same thing happen to this one...

thanks
Best regards

Issam

If you think the bird is not well then please go to a vet.
You have to kep the confortzone to the cage. If the bird start screming then you are to near

go to vets, if you do not have access to one, we need more information

age of bird

how was it kept in its last home

what you feed it on

where his cage is situated

where are you from, some1 here might know of an avian vet near you

also do no go near the cage, (unless re-filling food/water bowls and cleaning) taming a bird takes time!

SO BE PATIENT!!!

little steps! just sit in the room with him, not near his cage for now an share food, as in apple etc but not the seeds

he will see you eating an then want some, just offer him some, but if he does not take it, leave it to one side for later DO NOT FORCE HIM TO TAKE IT

this canbe your 1st step towards gaining the trust of this bird

thanks guys ....
the bird is ok and when there is no one in the room sings sometimes...also when somebody in the room do not scream...
just when somebody is close to the cage (about 20 cm) he will start screaming till he is back
I am feeding him seeds some fruits...

I have bought it from pet shop but he does not know his age but he seems some how small....

Any new bird needs a vet visit. How do you know he is OK? Birds can and do hide illness because they are prey animals. Please take the advice of other forum members. Also you need a big dose of patience with this bird.

Work the around 20 cm and try to get to 19-18-17. As soon as he is feeling not conteble then move to "25"

I would take him/her to a vet now
Get him some toys.... I do not want to sound mean... but the cage looks very used and not in good shape.. Did you disinfect the cage before you put the bird in it.
make sure there is no bare metal showing... Cut back on the seeds, fruits, veggies and pellets are the best.

I have to agree on the cage part!!! But the seeds part can be debated....different breeders/owners have different opinions on that. I have a mixed feeling as I used to breed and I had some problems with pellets....
