I have a 26 year old peach fronted conure named Petra. Most of her life, I have researched the best ways to take care of her. At this time, I am getting ready to grow a lot of vegetables in my organic gardens and am looking for wisdom on what Petra can have and the best ways to preserve the vegetables. Much of the stuff I grow is grown for her. Anyway, I am planning on growing a lot of tomatoes now, and want to make sure she can eat them, or is there something better (besides peppers) that I can be growing to feed her. Most of her diet is either pellets or the bird food from the store (I think the brand is Higgins?) and dried vegetables and fruit. Petra is a loud bird when people are around, but it relatively quiet when she is in her room alone. I have to keep her door locked (yes, she has her own room) because one of our cats knows how to open doors and has gotten into her room. I will post pictures of her when I get a chance.
