Thank you for posting this! This has been on my mind but not sure how you’d like us to proceed. In our best effort to represent Parrot Forums well, would you mind drafting the verbiage you would like us to share? Or just use the homepage? I guess I’m looking for a mission statement.
Thank You! 💛, Lou

Today is my 71st birthday and I'm very blue. Had to euthanize my middle-aged female Eclectus, Victoria, on Monday. She was with me since 2011. I've requested a necropsy. I have another 34 year old female Ekkie, Julie, who is also in mourning. Just wanted to share my loss with fellow parronts....

I'm so sorry! Not a very happy birthday, I'm sure. You two need to help each other through your loss. Do you have any idea that was wrong with her? Sometimes we need to end their suffering but it never feels completely right. I had to euthanize a bird a couple years ago after she had a stoke and it hurt so much to say goodbye and hand her over- moreso than a natural death. We are here to help you in your time of grief, friend.

Thank you for your kind words. I've had to do this a few time over the years but never for a larger parrot that was with me all the time. I'm awaiting the necropsy report.
