so I decided to start training Keiko, so I stopped by the pet store and picked up these papaya bits, I came home and gave her one to see if she would like it. I then proceeded to eat one as well, I then read the back of the package NOT FIT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION:eek:, well if I can't eat it do I really want to give it to her? it says natural on the package, contains dried papaya and sugar, I know that sugar isn't good for them but is very small amounts I don't think it will hurt. any who now i'm not sure I even want to give it to her. What do you guys think

I generally shy away from anything that is not human grade. I did buy Volkmans fruit and nut goodies which I don't believe are human grade.

At my safe bird store you can buy human grade dried fruit. I really love their bountiful harvest

I'm not a fan of things that are not for.human.consumption. I am sure its safe enough and you don't want to throw away money, give it to her I just wouldn't buy it again.

When food is "not fit for human consumption", that means it has not been tested the same, or is not graded as pure, as food that is. It is probably fine, but, the legal depts. of food companies use that disclaimer to avoid any legal prosecution or problems. For instance, a cow that is not in prime condition is used for pet food, because it is not the best. If it was on your farm, you could butcher that same cow, and eat it. But, it cannot be sold as food for humans.

Did she like.it? My fids don't like dried fruit but you can buy sulphate free all natural dried fruit at health food stores.
