so, my guys don't really care for the Harrison's super fine. but i had a whole bag, needed to use it up. Some is gonna go to a friend to try for her cockatiel and the rest will be used up in birdie bread and for these "chips" i made.
here is what i did, step by step:
Ingredients:
Sugar free, bird safe fruit juice (or veggie juice!). I like to use coconut water type juices.
Pellets (I used some of my leftover Harrison's)
Put your pellets in a small dish, fill equal amounts pellets, equal juice.
Put the container in the fridge for awhile, until the pellets are completely mush and have absorbed the juice.
Stir and mash together to the consistency of a thick pancake batter. (a little thinner is okay too)
Pour into a bird safe pan (I used an alluminum pie plate). Spread a thin circle of the past out flat. The thicker the patty, the longer the next step will take.
Bake in the oven at the lowest temperature until completely dry and brittle. Then take a butter knife and cut into pieces (shape and size is personal choice to you and your birds)
Offer to your bird:
If your bird happens to like them, it might be a good way to start changing their pellets if you need to get them used to a new kind! our bird Dally really likes them, but she still won't touch the Harrison's pellets on their own lol
