I am begining to wonder about her over zealous head scratching... It isn't just me, she scratches her own head a lot. Is this a sign something could be wrong, maybe with her ears or dry skin?

I plan on calling the vet to be safe... but I would like your thoughts too :33:

Darkchi-

I pulled this off a website:

Scratching: This could be a sign that your bird has very dry, flaky skin and feels itchy. Increase bathing activity. If bathing does not help. Consult an avian veterinarian. May be your bird has red mites. Throw an white sheet over the cage in the evening, leaving enough open for air flow. In the morning, if you see dark brownish red little dots. You have mites. Consult an avian veterinarian.

Although maybe Cricket just really likes head scratches :33:

well I know about bird mites... (used to have to check the show chicken)

I looked, I am pretty sure she doesn't have them.
I was thinking maybe something was in her ears (they were check by a vet a couple months ago though)

Do birds get ear mites too?

I am thinking she is just about the rubbing and that when I do it, she gets the erge to scratch her head... maybe because it tickles.

Ok, baths... I mist her everyday and give her a full bath every so often
Ok PETA!!! how do you bath a fighting grey? ... I know you have some addvice on bath time :p
she nearly takes off my head... tried the sink, too small... tried the tub too, she still finds a way out.

Birds scratching their head can also be an invitation for you to come over and give them a little head scratch. So sometimes it may just be body language, sounds like you give her plenty of baths. I know when Popsicle scratchs her head she wants me to get in on the action, she loves it!!! Let us know what the vet tells you.

Very carefully. :D

I wish I had the answer to that one, maybe then I could get Bucc in the bath. He has just started coming upstairs with us when I give Kito his shower, but as soon as I try some water on him, then its beak to finger time. My fingers always come off worse  Kito is a real water baby, and just loves getting in the shower Bucc will sit up on the shower curtain rail and just look at him as if he is crazy. :D Bucc hates them so much that I'm now having to give him a misting while he is still in his cage, or he will fly at me, beak pointing right at head  even then I have to be careful when I let him out I used to make him sit on his swing before I opened the door, but he started lunging at my hands so now he has to sit down the bottom until the door is open, by the time he gets out he is fine (ish)

When I work out how to get him in the bath you'll be the first to know.
