Here is some light-hearted comments to make you smile.
We all know what clowns these birds can be. They copy you as they watch your every move.
For almost a year my Buddy actually STANDS in his food bowl, reaches back, grabs a handful of food and eats with his “hands” (see photo). I have no idea why he does this other than it has been extremely wasteful since he grabs a handful of food, takes a quick bite and drops the rest.
Now I think I finally realized why he does this. He is emulating ME! Buddy’s cage is in my TV room and I eat there a lot. He sees me eating food from a bowl, using my hand or a fork. So he does the same.
But here’s the kicker...Today I decided to show him the proper way to eat whereas he should use his beak to grab the food from the bowl. While he was eating, I also had a bowl of food and I put my face into the bowl and picked out food with my mouth. I made “ummm” noises and made sure he was watching. He looked at me with his Devil eyes and watched me as I ate my food like he should.
After a few minutes, I had a mess all over my mouth. He then proceeded to get back into his bowl and use his “hands” to finish eating his food. It was as if he was thinking, “See, that’s why I don’t use my beak to eat.”
NOW who’s being trained?
