Congo African Grey named Turbo...RIP
Here he is - this is Oscar!! Found out he is closer to 30yrs old (not 25 like originally thought). He was with his first owner for the first 28/29yrs and with the second owner about 9 months. I am his 3rd owner. He is out and on top of his cage watching everyone. I have not yet been able to hold him, I will wait until tomorrow when the kids are in school and its not so 'busy'.
He has said Hi, Oscar, Whats Happening, Cracker and he Barks like the dog. LOL When he says Hello - it sounds like he has a British accent. LMAO The kids are loving him!!

He loves tortillas and calls them crackers. He likes to store them until they are hard and then dunk them in water. lol
He seems content right now, saying hi and hello as the kids come and go into the living room.
He does need his nails trimmed and some larger perches. I will go buy some tomorrow.
He can fly - he showed me that when I went to pick him up. I am not sure if I should keep him flighted or not? but that is another discussion/topic for later.

I LOVE this little guy!!! :)

Oscar is beautiful! Congrats!!

Awww.... Oscar is a handsome guy. Zons do have a 'way' of drawing us humans in;) Looks like 3rd home is the charm for him:) Glad you "clicked" right away, that makes things SO much easier.

We also have a tortilla lover, though he likes his soft. Little bits of tortilla could be used as a good training treat or reward for good behavior for Oscar. Kiwi sometimes gets tortilla when he eats vegetables he doesn't particularly like.

lol I dont know where the tortilla/cracker thing came from - - perhaps the first tortillas fed to him were hard like a cracker?? lol He ate soft ones for us, I dont have any hard ones - - I would like to see him dunk them in the water then eat them. lol He ate his food good tonight and drank his water. I dont see any anxiety, he seems very relaxed. They said he didnt like fruits, not oranges, apples, bananas etc...I will have to try it again with him. They didnt feed him veggies either - tomorrow he will I will feed him some yummy foods and see how he does.
One of the dogs is keeping guard of the cage and wont let the others near. He figured out quick that Oscar will drop little things (tortilla pieces) onto the floor and the dog is making sure that HE gets to eat them and not the other dogs.
The previous owners left the cage door open 24/7 - - I dont feel comfortable with doing that....I dont trust the dogs to being left alone nor Oscar being unsupervised. I would hate for him to get starttled, fly/crash into something and nobody is around to rescue him.
Its been an exciting and busy day for all of us!! Goodbye for now! :)

Congratulations ! Oscar is gorgeous. DYH's are addicting:10: We have 2 :54:
When we brought our 2nd home, Gizmo, we had a light clip done to his wings just in case he was aggressive and to make the acclimation process easier. It's been 6 weeks now and his wings are growing back and no aggression issues.

Oscar is gorgeous! I am so glad that he seems to be settling in and that he is finally home with you.
Good call about the dogs and not leaving him unsupervised..better safe than sorry:)

Oscar looks great! Good to know that he is getting more comfortable already! I'm happy for you & Oscar. :)

Oscar is a real beauty! Enjoy your new family member!
