Hey guys, news flash- it's National Bird Day today!
As such, I thought I'd show y'all some pictures of the 'gifts' I treated myself to and tell you about Teeko's Christmas presents.
I received a package yesterday and opened it just now;
A bona fide bird library! Two of the books (and the stuffed macaw) were already mine but look at all the new additions! If I had spare time I would definitely spend it reading these babies. The seller included a letter and two photos of her birds, and I found a feather wedged between pages. So much fun!
This is a shot of Teeko's cage setup. Don't worry about the Christmas stuff, they may be a risk to other, more mischievous birds but I know my own guy and trust him not to touch them.
For Christmas he got some awesome untreated Manila rope which I've used to create a canopy of sorts in the upper cage. He LOVES it!
I also bought him the Penn-Plax Bird Tree Perch and am enjoying it. It's like a java tree in the sense that it's very natural, looks great around the house and has bowls but is sized perfectly for itty-bitty birds! 4 stars
He received 2 stainless steel Coop Cups and 2 big bags of Zupreem pellets (Vegetable & Nut, respectively) which he devours with great gusto. While Zupreem has sugar and food coloring, this is a much better diet than what I've been giving him (Seed and pellet mix- he only ate the sunflower & safflower seeds). so he now has 4 bowls in his cage, 1 for water, 1 for veggies, and 2 for pellets. I think spreading his food around helps exercise him a little.
He also got 2 perches- a dragonwood from me and a manzanita from my grandmother, as well as a cute little travel cage which I used to bring him up to MI with me for Christmas. He had fun
Enough talking, here's some more pictures!
Shower time <3 I take him in with me and the warmth puts him right to sleep. Adorable, right?
Mandatory Christmas tree photo
Outdoors in early December. It was warm and sunny so we enjoyed it while we could! (And before you say anything- he flies like a fish and there was absolutely no wind that day, nor did I let him out of my sight)
I'd also like to announce that he's started letting me tickle under and around his wings! It's very cute but I try not to touch him sexually so it's not a thing I do often.
Well, that about sums up the happenings for the past few months. A huge thank you to everybody who posts on this forum! I read it often and hearing about your life with birds really brightens up my day.
Looking forward to a great 2016!
