She's in excellent health, her feathers are coming in beautifully, and the vet said that her rate of feather growth since I've had her is "astonishing". I was really happy to hear that, because I didn't know if they were coming in fast enough. Her past problems were behavioral and poor diet. She showed me some older feathers that showed signs of malnourishment, and her new ones are perfect. She's predicting a full recovery from the plucking issue, and it was the result of the emotional trauma of being abandoned. She fell in love with her, and Nika made me so proud by being on her best behavior. (Because I thought she was going to freak-out and bite). She was very relaxed, and we all even played a little ball on the exam table.
Then, on the way home I let her ride on my shoulder!
Ps, the angle of the camera makes me look so unlike myself!

Glad the visit went well! It's great to see success stories with plucking and feather rehabilitation. It's good knowing there is hope and that we can help our birds overcome.

I'd like to let Boomer stay on my shoulder when we drive (sometimes I do) but I am so worried that he would poop on me or the car seat since I won't have time to ask him to poop on a napkin if I'm busy driving. How do you do it with Nikka?

Lol! We were only 10 minutes from my house, I wasn't concerned about poop that much! We've practiced before in my garage, then short trips around the block, and she's always been super good. But I still prefer her carrier for longer trips! . Just carry poop cloths when you take boomer (he doesn't seem like a diaper sort of little dude)
