Happy Birthday Stephen (Anansi)

Thanks, Chris! I did, actually, despite never making it to the movies despite 3 separate attempts! Each one was thwarted by strange happenstance. Hahaha! Guess I just wasn't meant to go to the movies, yesterday.

The dinner was amazing! A massive 40 odd ounce ribeye steak for two, that I "shared" with my wife, (yes, shared is in quotes because her portions were ridiculously small! Hahaha!) that had been aged for 32 days and cooked to tender perfection, succulent lobster tail with a sinful dipping dish of rich, melted butter, and a side of very melty macaroni and cheese. Swooooooon! All followed up by a birthday cheesecake (New York style!)

And all this was out on a flame-lit patio that was freakishly free of any mosquitoes and attended by ninja-like waitresses who would pretty much materialize unexpectedly out of the darkness to top up your wine or refill your water, ask if you needed anything, and then melt back into the obscurity of the surrounding shadow. Never been waited on by ninjas, before. Very cool.

I should also mention, btw, that yesterday's birthday was shared by my resident speedster, Jolly (aka Barry Allen, aka Mr Jay, aka face-hugger), who turned two!

Happy belated birthday to Jolly!!! :D

My mouth was watering as you described dinner, Stephen!!! :32: YUM!!!!! So sorry the movies didn't work out. Will there be a rain check? Which movie did you want to go see? :)

Thanks, Wendy! The repeatedly thwarted movie in question was Straight Outta Compton. We might make another attempt on Sunday. With our 7 and 4 year old boys in the picture, getting to see non-G-rated films in the theaters has become quite a challenge. Hahaha!

And yes, we are definitely looking to make another appearance at that restaurant! Being a fellow Jerseyite, the place is called Char, in Raritan. In case you would like to check it out. I definitely recommend it.

My reaction exactly!

Happy belated to jolly as well! How cute!

Happy Belated to JollyMan!!
That dinner sounds amazing. My mouth is watering all over the keyboard.
Can't believe you still didn't make the movie! I hope y'all can get away to see it on Sunday.
I smiled every time I thought about that sweet little voice wishing his Daddy a Happy Birthday yesterday while we were on the phone. Made my whole day:)

Dinner sounded wonderful and perfect, no less than you deserve Stephen. Happy Belated birthday to Jolly too! What a cute pic :D

Aw you were right by my house! As a vegetarian I haven't eaten there but I hear only good things. Also the newer steakhouse on Main St (Wolfgang's)--even the employees are friendly and talk to Gilbert when we walk by. :)

Thanks, everyone! Jolly must have sensed that he's a little older, now. He had his best training session ever, today!

Terry, my boys' excited cries of happy birthday made my day as well! I should've let you speak to them a bit before getting off.

Thank you, Julie! You're a sweetheart.

Really, Patti? That place was only around 20 minutes away from us! You live closer to me than I'd thought!

And maybe I'll check out Wolfgang's next. I'm always up for a good steakhouse!

Yes I WALK past Wolfgangs. :) Char is right near the circle. I frequently go to Randazzo's (amazing bakery. I want to eat it all! Lol) and will be getting my own birthday cake there in a few weeks!! (Chocolate raspberry ganache).
