It was five years ago today that Skittles found his 'forever home' with daddy.

He was exactly 1yr,2wks old when I got him. He had been to two different pet stores (same statewide chain) before I found him.

I just took these photos the other day, surprisingly - he let me get very close to him. Many showed up blurry as a result. But these ones are good focus. I particularly like the one where his eye is half closed.

Thank you. I love sharing my story of him and I with other people. It's so remarkable, even to me.

Everyone I know in RL who knows him will tell me "he chose me" and once he did that, there was no going back. That whole "showing off" for me at the pet store, then ignoring the lady after me, and then showing off again when I went back was the final nail in the coffin of my loneliness. The whole "hopping and rolling around" was just too much LOL. I'm just grateful he was still there when I went back (after spending the weekend contemplating the responsibility as well as researching the species).

Of course, in getting him I used my savings (that I was saving for a new PC) so I had to wait another two years before I could get a new PC. But looking back, it was just 'meant to be'. The whole replacing my teflon cookware that I'd had for years with stainless steel a few months before getting him, the whole procrastinating in making a purchase on the PC, it was as if fate was intervening. He had only been in the store that I got him at for less than a month and he'd already won over the staff there.
