I felt really bad when Kiwi tipped his new perch yesterday because I (stupidly) didn't check for how safe it would be to have it on a stand vs. hanging and within reach. Thankfully Petsmart had this birdcage stand in stock, and it is absolutely perfect!!! It's rated for up to 40lbs, so I think it will be ideal for this lightweight perch, even if Kiwi is pulling and swinging on it! I tested it pretty thoroughly last night myself to see how hard it would be to tip and found it was pretty stable. Tempted him over this morning (before I took these pics, I was right there to be sure it was stable) with a treat and he went back and forth no problem. Made squeals of joy because he could swing on it! Used another treat so I could take pics. As you can see, no problems traversing back and forth. Very pleased!
This is what I had the perch on, which was really a stupid idea the more I think about it:
Here's the new stand, sans parrot:
Easy back and forth!
(swinging, but stable)
These stands are great for lightweight swings! I think they'd be cool for a big orbital too if you can't hang one from the ceiling. The brand I got was "Prevue Hendrix".
